Kansas Neurological Institute
The Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) is an intermediate care facility offering support to approximately 130 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. KNI practices a person-centered philosophy to support our residents so they can have the quality of life they deserve by recognizing their individuality, honoring their choices, protecting and maintaining their health, helping to build and maintain their relationships with others, and making sure that they are included in every aspect of their lives; in their homes, in their jobs, and in the community.
KNI has 19 homes with direct support staff assisting with daily living activities in each home throughout four buildings and is located on a large campus, east of the VA hospital in Topeka. KNI is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
About the Position:
Develops and conducts thorough hands on training programs for new and current KNI staff that includes: an introduction to developmental disabilities, safety and health procedures, lift and hygiene techniques, healthcare responsibilities, infection control procedures, risk managment procedures, privacy issues, Personalized Lifestyle Plans, food and sanitation procedures, other KNI policies and procedures, CPR, etc. They ensure trainings and training materials are designed to maintain and enhance KNI’s ability to achieve its mission. They also ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws.
